About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer with strong expertise in upstream oil and gas operations for a long-term offshore assignment at Al‑Khafji Joint Operations (KJO). The Process Engineer will provide technical support for the day-to-day operation, optimization, and performance of offshore upstream production facilities. The role focuses on ensuring safe, stable, and efficient production across Gas Oil Separation Plants (GOSP), gathering systems, produced water treatment, and water injection facilities, while maintaining full compliance with KJO standards and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Production Facilities
- Provide continuous process engineering support for wellhead platforms, manifolds, GOSP, and gathering systems
- Evaluate and enhance oil, gas, and water separation processes
- Support crude stabilization, gas handling, and condensate recovery operations
- Assist with emulsion control, slug management, and chemical injection programs
- Analyse production data and recommend optimization measures

Gathering Systems & Pipelines
- Ensure stable operation of crude and gas gathering networks
- Identify and mitigate flow assurance risks including slugging, hydrates, wax formation, and corrosion
- Support pigging operations and coordinate with onshore facilities
- Conduct mass balance checks and assist with production allocation

Water Treatment & Injection
- Oversee produced water treatment systems (hydrocyclones, CPI, IGF, filtration units)
- Support seawater treatment, deoxygenation, filtration, and chemical dosing systems
- Optimize water injection rates and pressure control to enhance reservoir performance
- Ensure compliance with water quality and environmental discharge standards

Process Design & Safety
- Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, and related process documentation
- Perform process simulations using Aspen HYSYS or UniSim
- Develop equipment datasheets, operating philosophies, and design inputs
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and LOPA studies
- Support MOC processes, incident investigations, and procedure updates

Project & Operational Support
- Provide process engineering input for offshore modifications, tie-ins, and brownfield upgrades
- Review contractor deliverables and support commissioning and start-up activities
- Collaborate closely with reservoir, production, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, and HSE teams
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to operational teams
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- Strong experience in upstream oil and gas processing, preferably in offshore environments
- Practical knowledge of GOSP operations, gathering systems, and water injection facilities - Solid understanding of international oil and gas standards and best practices
- Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS / UniSim
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills
- Willingness to work offshore on rotational schedules
Working Conditions
- Offshore rotational assignment (e.g., 14/14 or 28/28)
