Communication Engineer

To make available technical support on the design and execution of projects pertaining to communication systems providing required support in the completion of project in a timely and cost-effective manner

Skills

• Policies, Processes and Procedures:

  • Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

• Day- to-day operations

  • Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Communications Engineering Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures

• Project Management

  • Organizes and supervises the activities and work of the contractors to ensure that all work agreed upon is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with the organization requirements and is in line with operating procedures and policy

• Technical Support

  • Provides technical support under the direction of the Section Supervisor in designing and execution of projects and activities related to communications

• System Design

  • Participates in the system design of proposed communication plan to ensure that all technical requirements and data are available and considered during project planning

• Project Scope

  • Reviews and prepares scope of work for major telecommunication jobs for presenting to the Superintendent and Supervisor for review and approval

• System Acceptance Tests

  • Witnesses and attends system acceptance tests of completed projects to verify that the systems works in order to make the necessary closures and recommendations to the project
  • As Built Reviews As-Built plans after completion of projects to ensure that the drawings are as per the actual installation in order to have an accurate file of the plan

• Reporting

  • Prepares section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards

• Safety, Health & Environment

  • Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

• Additional Responsibilities

  • The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and forms part of the function of the post

Education

• Communication Engineering or Electrcial Engineering
