Plant Engineer

To coordinate with the units to resolve facility problems, and follow-up for major maintenance and overhaul with Maintenance Support Services (MSS) and OND/OFD routine maintenance to ensure continuous operations. Participate in any modifications for the unit, troubleshoots, investigates and diagnoses problems to recommend proper solutions. Follow-up on related projects carried out by the department to ensure the project meets agreed parameters

Skills

• Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Applies approved Division/Unit/SOPs policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

• Day- to-day operations

  • Assists the Supervisor and Foremen to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures in day-to-day operations
  • Reviews the daily plant operation shift logbook , control room log-sheets, field operators log sheets, charts and the maintenance logbook for technical analysis on operation and maintenance to take necessary corrective action
  • Attends weekly meetings with Supervisors, Foremen, Operators and to review the status of operation activities and take corrective action

• Inspections

  • Makes thorough daily plant walk-through inspections and checks the plant for any unusual or abnormal action, phenomena and/or conditions to diagnose the abnormality, if any, and recommends corrective action
  • Performs plant equipment/system testing as required to assess their operating condition
  • Reviews the plant operational conditions on daily basis and discusses any abnormal operational conditions with the Supervisor and Foreman
  • Collects the data and analyses or troubleshoots to determine the cause of any plant interruption

• Maintenance Operations

  • Follows up all the maintenance and installation / Construction activities by the executing departments until conclusion
  • Follows up maintenance issues including SAP requests for timely repair of assigned units
  • Provides the Supervisor with technical advice on operations and maintenance work in order to recommend changes in specifications and or drawings when required

• Continuous Improvement and New Technology

  • Performs studies on the plant for modification and replacement to improve the plant operation, performance and reliability
  • Communicates with the manufacturers to obtain the latest information on the technologies that can be applied to improve plant productivity, efficiency and reduce wastage

• Operation Instruction Manuals (OIM) and General Instructions

  • Reviews the Operations Instruction Manual to keep it updated
  • Checks and updates the instrument set point in order to ensure operations are in safe mode
  • Trains the Operators on procedures relating to new equipment and modifications to equipment or Process changes

• Projects

  • Releases ESR for ESD to prepare packages to repair, modify or improve equipment
  • Reviews and comments on modifications and design packages for all projects prepared by other groups
  • Follows up the implementation of small project packages in the field
  • Participates in Engineering projects by providing relevant inputs from a Plant Engineering perspective

• Reports

  • Reviews periodical reports prepared by the Foremen of the section to check for compliance with Company and section requirements, policies, procedures and standards and recommends any changes that may be needed to meet operational needs
  • Prepares weekly, monthly and annual operations and maintenance reports on the operational plant and reviews the reports of Foremen to make technical recommendations and plans for improving the power generation operation and facility’s conditions
  • Assists operational staff in analyzing the daily operation reports and on technical queries
  • Prepares weekly reports on the operational status of the power plant

• Safety, Health & Environment

  • Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

Education

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering
