Programmer

To participate in testing, modifying & maintaining all application-based security operating systems. Installs and conducts testing of all applications to ensure that user needs are met.

Skills

• Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

• Day- to-day operations

  • Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Technical Systems Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures

• System checks

  • Performs weekly tests from a pre-assigned checklist to assess operability of various security systems and flag any error message responses for further investigation;

  • System development

  • Assists Systems Analysts in identifying user requirements to ensure all requested design features can integrate with the wider security subnet

  • Supports ISD software users to encode all application-based systems and ensure a link to the central Access Control System.

• Project assignments

  • Participates in pre-commissioning of all projects to verify security system designs and other planned procedures. This ensures integration with current systems and testing of vendor products before implementation.
  • Prepares application manuals for other programmers and system users during new project assignments to ensure proper operation of all security-related systems. This includes translating product solutions provided by vendor/systems designers into detailed program specifications.

• Reporting

  • Assists in the preparation of timely and accurate reports for section in order to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards.

  • Prepares reports on the status, operation and maintenance of security system software to ensure senior ISD managers are fully aware of all system failures and breakdowns.

  • Safety, Health & Environment

  • Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
