About the Role

We are urgently seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer to support critical projects within petrochemical and industrial environments. Candidates must review the job description carefully before applying.


Key Responsibilities

  • HVAC System Design & Engineering

    • Design HVAC systems for industrial facilities, process plants, control rooms, and hazardous (ATEX/IECEx) zones.
    • Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, and RFQs for HVAC equipment including chillers, AHUs, and exhaust/ventilation systems.
    • Review P&IDs, ducting layouts, and HVAC control schematics, ensuring seamless integration with BMS systems.
  • Project Execution & Supervision

    • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems at project sites.
    • Ensure full compliance with API, NFPA, ASHRAE, Shell DEP, and other relevant international standards.
    • Coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for system-wide integration.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting

    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) programs for critical HVAC assets.
    • Diagnose and resolve system performance issues such as airflow imbalances, refrigerant leaks, and control system failures.
    • Conduct energy audits and recommend efficiency enhancements, including VFD applications and heat recovery solutions.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensure HVAC systems meet OSHA, PSM, and HSE requirements for petrochemical facilities.
    • Verify compliance of explosion-proof equipment (Ex-d, Ex-e) in classified areas.
  • Review hazardous area classifications (HAC) to confirm ventilation adequacy and safety.

  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management

    • Evaluate supplier proposals and perform detailed technical bid evaluations (TBE).
    • Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and inspect delivered equipment for quality and compliance.
    • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to secure necessary approvals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education & Certifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or HVAC Engineering.
    • Preferred certifications:
      • Professional Engineer (PE) License
      • ASHRAE Certifications (HVAC Design, Energy Modeling, etc.)
      • ATEX/IECEx Competency for hazardous area applications
  • Experience

    • Minimum 10 years of HVAC engineering experience within petrochemical, refinery, or offshore environments.
    • Strong hands-on expertise in:
      • Chilled water systems, DX units, and pressurization systems
      • BMS and PLC-based control systems
      • Fire/smoke dampers and gas detection integration
  • Technical Proficiency

    • Skilled in HVAC design software such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards, including:

    • ASHRAE 15/34 (Refrigeration Safety)
    • NFPA 90A/91 (HVAC Fire Safety)
    • API 500/505 (Hazardous Area Classification)
