About the Role
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing detailed engineering designs, layouts, and technical documentation for industrial and petrochemical facilities. This role transforms project concepts into precise engineering deliverables, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with SABIC standards. The Design Engineer supports project planning, design optimization, and technical reviews, playing a central role in the engineering workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, 2D/3D models, and design calculations for plant systems, equipment layouts, and piping networks.
- Review and update design packages to ensure accuracy, constructability, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure integrated and conflict‑free designs.
- Conduct design verification, clash detection, and compliance checks with SABIC specifications.
- Support project managers with technical inputs, design clarifications, and engineering documentation.
- Evaluate design alternatives, propose improvements, and ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP sessions, and technical meetings with stakeholders.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong command of CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, SolidWorks, PDMS, E3D, or similar).
- Knowledge of engineering standards, industrial design practices, and SABIC specifications.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, isometrics, and equipment datasheets.
- Minimum 5+ years of design experience in SABIC projects.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork to support multi‑disciplinary coordination.
