We are currently seeking a passionate and talented Individual Needs Support Assistant (INSA) to join the Student Support team in our Primary Section. This vital role is focused on providing tailored one-to-one support to enable a pupil with additional needs to fully access learning, develop confidence, and achieve independence. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting the pupil's emotional and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be required to assist in the holistic development of students and actively contribute to the school's mission and philosophy. Key responsibilities include:
- Tailored Pupil Support:
- Provide consistent one-to-one assistance to help the pupil stay focused, understand tasks, and complete learning activities. Build a positive relationship, offering reassurance and encouragement to promote confidence and independence.
- Adaptation and Monitoring:
- Creatively and effectively adapt instructions, resources, and activities in line with the class planning and the child’s Learner Passport. Monitor the pupil’s responses, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing, making adjustments and sharing detailed observations with the class teacher and SENCO.Behaviour and Wellbeing: Support the development of behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and social skills both within and outside the classroom. Promote the pupil’s full participation in all school life, including routines, transitions, and school trips.
- Collaboration and Development:
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and other staff, contributing to planning and review meetings. Demonstrate commitment to personal development and maintaining up to date knowledge of best practice for students with learning needs.

- Qualifications and Experience:
- Skills:
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
- Attributes:
- Patience, empathy, and a calm approach when supporting children with additional or complex needs. Strong observation and recording abilities to monitor progress.
- Experience (Desirable):
- Experience supporting children with SEN (1–3 years desirable), including communication, learning, or social/emotional needs. Experience working in a school or educational setting providing individual or small-group support.
