About the Role
The Automobile Workshop Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the vehicle workshop, ensuring all maintenance and repair activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company standards. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage a team of mechanics and technicians in a fast‑paced automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage day‑to‑day workshop operations, including vehicle inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Allocate tasks to mechanics and technicians based on skill level, workload, and operational priorities.
- Ensure all repair and service jobs are completed on time and meet quality and safety standards.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Maintain accurate records of service history, repair activities, and spare parts usage.
- Monitor and manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and workshop equipment.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for company vehicles.
- Enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations within the workshop.
- Coordinate with management regarding vehicle availability, operational needs, and workflow planning.
- Train, mentor, and support workshop staff to enhance performance and productivity.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in automotive maintenance or workshop operations.
- At least 2–3 years of supervisory or team‑lead experience in an automobile workshop.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of vehicle repair, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures.
- Hands‑on experience with cars, pickup trucks, and light commercial vehicles.
- Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
- Solid understanding of workshop safety standards and best practices.
- Basic computer proficiency for maintenance records and reporting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in fleet maintenance operations.
- Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools, software, and workshop equipment.
- Ability to optimize workflow and improve workshop efficiency.
